Our Solar System
Our solar system consists of ONE STAR (the SUN), and all the objects that ORBIT it including:
- 8 PLANETS: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
- DWARF PLANETS such as Pluto
- MOONS
PLANETS are objects that ORBIT a star and are LARGE ENOUGH to have cleared their orbits (of debris).
DWARF PLANETS are SMALLER objects that orbit a star and are NOT large enough to have cleared their orbits.
MOONS are NATURAL SATELLITES that ORBIT a PLANET.
A collection of BILLIONS of solar systems make up a GALAXY.
OUR solar system is found in the MILKY WAY galaxy.
